Workshop: "Functional Insulin Therapy" (20.3.2009)

Dr. Janez Andrej (16.30-17.30)

Dr. Janež Andrej will introduce how to implement FIT into clinical practice and work with the patients.
Functional insulin therapy is a teaching approach of intensified insulin therapy.
Its aim is to transfer the decisional process and the management of its insulin treatment to the patient, according to the various activities of everyday life, and particularly meals.
Application of the functional insulin therapy in practice requires a specific teaching program, preferably ambulatory, in real everyday life conditions, and it should be carried out by a staff highly qualified in diabetology.
At the workshop, we will discuss how to implement the functional insulin therapy in practice. Each participants of the workshop will receive a copy of "Patient's FIT manual" written by dr.Janez and already published in Slovenia. The manual is practical and valuable help to diabetes patients and doctors in monitoring and controlling glucose levels.

Workshop: "Difficult Feet" (21.3.2009)

Dr. Urbancic Rovan Vilma (16.00-17.00)

Integral part of the scientific program of ADIT2009 will be lectures and workshop on Diabetic foot complications on 22.march 2009. Workshop will be conducted by dr.Urbancic-Rovan Vilma, an endocrinologist at the University Medical Centre, Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr.Urbancic-Rovan is a member of the Slovenian Diabetic Foot Working Group, the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot, and the Scientific Secretary of Diabetic Foot Study Group of the EASD (European Association for the Study of Diabetes).This workshop will be interactive. The participants will have the opportunity to discuss various difficult clinical cases of diabetic foot with the leading European expert on diabetic feet. Different clinical cases will show strategies for preventing and treating diabetic foot lesions.

Workshop: "Insulin Pump Therapy" (21.3.2009)

Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev (17.00-18.00)
